Guide · AI for your ads · For the owner whose WhatsApp chats start with an ad
Asking Meta's AI about the ads that bring you WhatsApp chats: Meta AI business assistant in Ads Manager, a restricted ad account, and why Ads Manager has the final word
If your WhatsApp chats start with an ad, the questions about that ad live in your Meta ad account: why it stopped, why results dropped, why the account is blocked. Meta puts an AI chat in that account, called Meta AI business assistant, and points owners to it for exactly those questions. This guide puts Meta's help article, product page and terms for it into plain words: what Meta says it does, where to find it, where Meta's own pages disagree about who has it, and the line in the terms every owner should know before acting on an answer.

Three Meta AIs with similar names
Meta uses close names for different tools, and the difference matters because each one talks to someone else:
- Meta AI business assistant, in your ad account
- The subject of this guide. A chat inside the places you manage ads, such as Ads Manager and Business Support Home, that answers you about your campaigns and your ad account.
- Meta AI business assistant, in the WhatsApp Business app
- A separate helper with the same name inside the WhatsApp Business app, for the owner's own tasks there. It has its own guide, linked below.
- Meta Business Agent
- The AI that replies to your customers. Meta's product page puts the difference this way: the business assistant helps you optimise campaigns, while Meta Business Agent sets up automated chat responses that reply around the clock on WhatsApp or Messenger.

What Meta says it can do
Meta's Business Help Center describes the assistant as “an AI tool that can help improve your campaign performance and resolve account issues”, which uses data unique to your business to give personalised recommendations about your advertising, right in your ad account. It lists five things:
- Spot trends
- Insights and charts drawn from your current and past campaign results.
- Analyse chosen campaigns
- You pick the campaigns, it gives you personalised insights, and you edit, drop or apply its recommendations.
- Compare with your industry
- It compares your cost per result, click-through rate and return on ad spend with benchmarks for your industry.
- Budget, audience and data setup
- Recommendations on how to spend the budget, who to reach, and how your business data reaches Meta.
- Account problems
- Help with a disabled account, campaign delivery errors, payment issues or a spend limit, plus general questions about Meta's tools and ad products.
The same article adds two notes. The assistant is in beta, and “All guidance provided by Meta AI business assistant are suggestions and do not guarantee performance improvements or outcomes.” Meta's product page adds that recommendations can be applied to a campaign with a single click from the chat.

Where to find it
The help article says to open Ads Manager or Business Support Home and click the assistant's icon in the bottom left menu, or wherever that icon appears, for example in Account Overview and in opportunity score recommendations. You can select campaigns, ad sets or ads in the Campaigns table first, and it will answer about those; that step is optional.
The product page's questions section names more places: Meta Business Suite, Facebook Ad Center and Instagram Boost, plus the Analyze button in the campaign table and the Analyze with AI buttons in Account Overview and opportunity score recommendations. It says you are told you have access by a pop-up in your Meta ad account.

Who has it: Meta's pages disagree
Both pages quoted below are undated. We read them on 22 October 2026.
- The help article
- Opens with: “This product may not be available to you yet.”
- The product page, near the top
- Says it is in beta and “available to a majority of businesses of all sizes and languages”.
- The same product page, further down
- Says it is in beta, “available to select businesses and rolling out to more advertisers soon”, and in its questions section that it launched in beta, in English, starting with select businesses.

When the ad account itself is blocked
Meta's help article on troubleshooting a disabled or restricted account opens with an offer to chat with Meta AI business assistant for support around the clock. Its own steps are: on a computer, go to Meta Business Support Home, click the restricted account in Account Overview, and follow the What you can do section.
Meta says it may ask you to do one or more of these: confirm your identity, complete verification, secure your account, or request a review. The article says you must be an admin on the account to request a review.
The same article warns that if an ad account is disabled for a policy violation and remains ineligible for reinstatement for 6 months, any unused prepaid services may be forfeited where allowed by law, and the account can't be reinstated after that; and that Meta reserves the right, in certain circumstances, to disable an account permanently before then.

What you agree to when you use it
The help article says that by continuing you agree to Meta's Beta terms, its Privacy Policy, the Meta AI terms and a set of supplemental terms, and that your interactions with the assistant may be used to improve AI at Meta. Two of those documents are set out here.
The Meta AI Business Assistant Supplemental Terms (published and effective 7 January 2026) say the assistant's answers, including those about advertising performance, reporting and analytics, “may not always be accurate, complete, or current”, and that “Ads Manager is the canonical source of information for advertising performance and related metrics.” You are solely responsible for checking any answer against Ads Manager before relying on it, acting on it or passing it on. They also say you should not rely on its outputs for any purpose or use them to inform professional advice or decisions related to medicine, finance, law or pharmaceuticals, and that verifying outputs is your sole responsibility.
Meta's Beta Product Testing Terms (last modified 6 June 2023) say a beta product may contain errors, is provided as is, and may be changed, withdrawn or discontinued at any time, with or without notice. They also have a confidentiality section covering information about a beta product, including your use of it, except what Meta has made public.

Questions worth asking it
Meta's own example prompts include: summarise the performance of my account; what are my lowest performing ads and how can I improve them; what is my opportunity score and how can I improve it; give me a chart comparing impressions and clicks for my top spending campaigns; my ad account is disabled, can you help me restore it; I've reached my daily spend limit, how can I increase it; and how do I download my invoice. It also lists questions about how your website's data reaches Meta.

Questions
What is Meta AI business assistant in Ads Manager?
Meta's Business Help Center describes it as an AI tool in your ad account that can help improve campaign performance and resolve account issues, using data unique to your business. It can chart trends, analyse chosen campaigns, compare results with industry benchmarks, recommend budget and audience changes, and help with a disabled account, delivery errors, payments or a spend limit. Meta says it is in beta.
Is it the same as Meta Business Agent?
No. Meta's product page says the business assistant helps you optimise campaigns inside Ads Manager and Business Support Home, while Meta Business Agent sets up automated chat responses that reply around the clock on WhatsApp or Messenger. The WhatsApp Business app also has a separate assistant with the same name.
Why can't I see it in my ad account?
Meta's help article says the product may not be available to you yet. Meta's product page says both that it is available to a majority of businesses and that it is available to select businesses and rolling out; all three statements are on undated pages read on 22 October 2026. Meta says you are told about access by a pop-up in your ad account.
Can I trust the numbers it gives me?
Meta's supplemental terms for the assistant (7 January 2026) say its answers may not always be accurate, complete or current, that Ads Manager is the canonical source for advertising performance, and that you are responsible for checking any answer against Ads Manager before relying on it, acting on it or passing it on.
Can it get my disabled ad account back?
Meta's troubleshooting article offers the assistant as one route, and lists the steps in Business Support Home: confirm your identity, complete verification, secure your account or request a review, which needs an admin. Meta's pages promise help, not a result. Our reading: a WhatsApp number restricted for its messages follows WhatsApp's own messaging rules, covered in our guide on WhatsApp policy violations.
