Using the WhatsApp name and logo on your sign, flyer and website: what Meta's brand rules allow
Almost every business that takes orders on WhatsApp wants to say so: on the shop sign, the flyer, the delivery bag, the website. Meta publishes rules for how the WhatsApp name and logo may be used, and a few of them catch businesses out, from the colour of the logo to the word WhatsApp in a shop's own name.

The short version
A business may tell customers they can reach it on WhatsApp and show the official logo to say so. It may not make WhatsApp look like part of its own brand, its product or its partner. Everything below is a detail of that one line, taken from Meta's brand page for WhatsApp.
What the rules allow
- The official logo, from Meta's own page
- Meta's brand page offers a logo pack. Meta says to use only those files, not logos found elsewhere on the web, and to check back for the current version.
- Any size, as long as it is not the star
- The logo can be scaled to fit, but WhatsApp must not be the most distinctive or prominent feature of the page, print or other material. Your own name comes first.
- The word, written properly
- WhatsApp with a capital W and a capital A, never shortened or changed, in the same font and size as the text around it. A logo should not stand in for the word in a sentence.
What the rules rule out
- Changing the logo
- No new colours to match your branding, no redrawn design, and no combining it with other words, images, logos or your business's name.
- Implying a connection
- Nothing that suggests WhatsApp works with, sponsors or endorses the business. Meta's Business Messaging Policy separately forbids misrepresenting an affiliation with a business.
- WhatsApp in your own names
- Not in a trademark, product or service name, website address, username or account name, and not in look-alike spellings either; Meta's own examples include WatsApp, WutsApp and ZapZap.
- WhatsApp as a verb
- Meta asks businesses to avoid it. Write message us on WhatsApp, not a phrase that turns the name into an action.
- Merchandise
- No T-shirts, mugs or other give-aways carrying the logo, and no use on apparel, accessories or packaging without Meta's written approval.
Putting it into practice
- Signs and flyers. Message us on WhatsApp, with the official logo, unaltered and smaller than your own name and logo.
- The website. A chat button or a QR code that opens your chat, described in the QR code guide, with the official logo beside it if you want one.
- Packaging. Meta itself suggests a QR code on product packaging to start a chat. The WhatsApp logo printed on the packaging is the part that needs Meta's written approval.
- Your business name on WhatsApp. Your own name, never one built around WhatsApp. Meta also refuses display names that mention WhatsApp, as the display name guide explains.
Questions
Can we recolour the WhatsApp logo to match our brand?
No. Meta's brand page says the logos may not be modified in any way, colours included. Scaling the size is allowed.
Can our shop or website address include the word WhatsApp?
No. Meta's page rules out WhatsApp, or anything similar, in a business's trademark, product name, domain name, username or account name.
Can we print the WhatsApp logo on our carrier bags?
Not without Meta's prior written approval, which the brand page requires for packaging and merchandise. A QR code that opens your chat, with your own branding, avoids the question.
Can we say WhatsApp recommends our business?
No. Meta forbids any use of its brand that implies sponsorship or endorsement, and its Business Messaging Policy forbids misrepresenting an affiliation.
