Muse or Meta Business Agent? Which of Meta's AI agents does what for a business on WhatsApp

In September 2026 Meta launched Muse, a personal AI agent you can talk to in WhatsApp, and then a version for small businesses. It already had Meta Business Agent, which answers customers on a business's WhatsApp number. The names are close, the jobs are not. Here is what Meta's own announcements say each one does.

Two agents, two jobs

Muse works for the person using it: you give it a task or a goal, and it does the work across the apps you connect. Meta Business Agent works for a business's customers: it answers the people who message the business's WhatsApp number. On 28 September 2026 Meta announced Meta Enterprise Platform, which brings both, together with tools for developers, to businesses.

What Muse does for an owner

Works from a goal
Meta says you tell Muse what needs doing, from a single task such as sending an email to a larger goal such as finding new customers, and it makes a plan and moves the work forward, coming back when something changes or it needs approval.
Connects your business tools
The small business version connects a Facebook Page, Instagram professional account analytics and Meta ad accounts in a few clicks, plus dozens of other tools for selling, accounts, design and customer records. Meta says it then understands what you sell and what customers keep asking.
Asks before it acts
Meta says nothing publishes, sends or spends without your approval, and that Muse shows a complete record of everything it has done and plans to do.
Where you talk to it
In the Muse app, on the web, or directly in WhatsApp, like messaging another person.
Where it runs
On its own secure computer in Meta's cloud. A separate agent on that machine must approve anything Muse sends to the internet, and Muse cannot see passwords or payment details stored for it.

What Meta Business Agent does

Meta Business Agent answers customers who message the business, from the business's own information, and hands the conversation to a person when it should stop. How it works on a WhatsApp number, who qualifies and what it costs are covered in the Meta Business Agent guide. Neither of Meta's Muse announcements describes Muse answering a business's customers, and the small business post's list of connections does not include a WhatsApp Business account.

If your business is in the UAE

Meta's launch post says Muse is rolling out in the United States on iOS, Android and the web, and the small business post says it is available in the US and Canada. Neither mentions the UAE. Until Meta says otherwise, the agent a UAE business can plan around for its WhatsApp customers is Meta Business Agent, subject to the eligibility rules in the guide above.

Questions

Is Muse the same as Meta Business Agent?

No. Muse is a personal AI agent that works for the person using it. Meta Business Agent answers the customers who message a business. Meta Enterprise Platform, announced on 28 September 2026, brings both to businesses.

Can we use Muse in the UAE?

Meta's announcements of September 2026 say Muse is available in the US, and the small business version in the US and Canada. Neither mentions the UAE.

Will Muse post, send or spend money without asking?

Meta says no: nothing publishes, sends or spends without your approval, and Muse checks with you before sensitive actions such as sending an email or making a purchase.

Does Meta use what we tell Muse for ads?

Meta says Muse does not share a person's conversations or the data on its secure computer with Meta's ad systems, and that people can opt out of their interactions being used to train Meta's AI models.

What does Muse cost?

Meta says Muse is free for most of what people need, with subscription plans for those who want to do more. The posts give no prices.

Want your WhatsApp number ready for whatever AI you choose?

We set up a business's WhatsApp number on a system its team runs, so customer conversations stay in one place the business owns, whichever AI tools it adopts. A short call is the easiest way to see how that would work for you.
