Meta Verified on the WhatsApp Business app: who qualifies, who must subscribe, changing plans, what gets locked, and when Meta refunds
Meta Verified is the paid subscription through which a WhatsApp Business app number can get a verified badge, though paying does not guarantee one. WhatsApp's Help Center explains who qualifies, what every plan includes, which account must subscribe, how impersonation protection and plan changes work, why the business name must match the profile, what gets locked once you subscribe, and when Meta refunds. Here is what those pages say, so the decision is made before the payment.

Is it offered to you, and do you qualify?
The quick check, according to WhatsApp's Help Center, is to open Settings or Business Tools in the WhatsApp Business app and look for Meta Verified. If it is not there, it is not available to the business yet. Where it is offered, the person signing up must be at least 18 and the business account must:
- Have some history
- Have been on the WhatsApp Business app for a certain number of days, and have sent a message recently.
- Look like a business
- Have a profile name and a profile picture, with a phone number in a country where Meta Verified is offered.
- Not be verified already
- Not already hold an active Meta Verified subscription through Meta Business Suite.
Some kinds of business cannot subscribe at all; Meta names government and political organisations as examples. Which plans a business is offered depends, Meta says, on its activity, including how much it talks with customers on WhatsApp.
What every plan includes
Meta offers several plans. The Help Center lists the same core in each: a verified badge, protection against impersonation, in-app support, at least one verified channel, a business web page, and at least four linked devices. Higher plans add more linked devices, up to 10, more verified channels, faster support and business broadcasts. The badge can show in the Calls tab, on the business profile, on context cards and on incoming calls. Subscribers also have access to WhatsApp's ad tools, such as ads that click to WhatsApp.
Paying does not guarantee the badge. WhatsApp's Help Center says that after subscribing, one of three things happens, and the business keeps the plan's other benefits in every case:
- Verified automatically
- Meta verifies the business from its activity across Meta's apps.
- Asked for documents
- Meta asks for documents about the business to review. Sending them is optional, and does not guarantee verification.
- No verification option
- The business subscribes without a way to be verified.
The badge is not permanent either. Meta may ask for more checks, such as an identity document and a selfie, and can remove the badge if they are not completed or the account stops meeting its requirements; the rest of the subscription carries on. A business with several WhatsApp accounts can, on some plans, list the others as protected business accounts from its main account, which helps keep them from being wrongly banned for impersonating the business. The Help Center says a protected account does not get a badge of its own and can still be banned for breaking WhatsApp's Business Terms of Service.
The impersonation protection itself, according to WhatsApp's Help Center, means WhatsApp watches other accounts for anyone pretending to be the business, and removes an account it decides is impersonating it. After cancelling, the Help Center says this protection, and the protected business accounts benefit described above, last until the end of the current billing cycle and then stop. If someone uses a business username to pass as the business, or tries to buy, sell, trade or squat WhatsApp usernames, Meta asks for that user and any suspicious messages to be reported so it can review them.
Getting verified: the names must match
The most common snag the Help Center describes is a mismatch. If the business name being verified does not match the WhatsApp profile name, Meta cannot verify it. The fix is offered in the app: tap Update profile name, then Update name and Submit, and Meta reviews it in about 48 hours. Its other advice when verification stalls:
- Business not in the list
- Check the details were typed correctly and pick the record that comes closest. A newly registered business should try again after four weeks.
- Confirmation code
- Codes expire after 24 hours, and a new one can be requested with Resend code.
- ID photos
- Use good light, a flat contrasting surface and all four corners in the frame. Screenshots and photocopies may be refused.
Subscribing also locks the profile. The category, address, email and website cannot be changed without losing the verified status. After verification the profile may stay locked for up to 20 days; after that the picture can change once every three days and the name once every 60 days, each after a review.
Changing, cancelling and refunds
The subscription is managed under Tools, then Meta Verified, then Manage Subscription, where the payment method and payment history can be changed or viewed, and, where Meta has rolled it out, the plan (see Changing plan, below). The Help Center adds several rules that catch owners out:
- It stays with the number
- Moving to a new phone is fine, but changing the phone number cancels the subscription, and switching the account to ordinary WhatsApp removes the verified status. It cannot be moved to another business account.
- Link Facebook and Instagram first
- Linking a Facebook or Instagram account after subscribing may cancel the subscription, so Meta recommends adding them before.
- Cancelling
- Only the four most recently used linked devices stay linked, and the business web page is removed 15 days after the subscription ends.
- Refunds
- Only when verification was not completed or Meta could not verify the business. There is no refund for the current billing period after cancelling, no partial refund, and none if the account breaks Meta's policies.

The separate badge for numbers on Meta's developer platform is covered in the blue tick guide, the linked devices that come with a plan in the team guide, and Meta One, which includes Meta Verified, in the Meta One guide.
Paying for it, and when a payment fails
On the WhatsApp Business app, WhatsApp's Help Center says Meta Verified is paid with the payment methods in the owner's Apple App Store or Google Play account. It is charged monthly and renews automatically on the same date each month until it is cancelled, and the payment history sits in the store. To verify on Facebook or Instagram as well, Meta points to signing up in Meta Business Suite instead.
- One account per subscription
- It cannot be gifted, transferred or moved to another WhatsApp Business account. A second account needs its own subscription, and cancelling one to subscribe another may put the business on a waitlist.
- Asked to log in to Facebook or Instagram
- The Help Center says the WhatsApp Business account is probably linked to a Meta business portfolio controlled by a different Facebook or Instagram account, and the account that subscribes, to Meta Verified or Meta One, must have Full control admin permission in that portfolio. Without it, the app says the account has no admin permission for this business. Tap Use a different Facebook account or Use a different Instagram account and sign in as that admin.
- A declined payment
- Check the payment details, expiry date and funds in the app store account, and add a second payment method as a backup so the subscription stays active if the first one fails.
- Two charges in one month
- If one shows as Pending, the Help Center says it is probably an authorization hold from the bank, not a second payment.
- A charge you do not recognise
- Compare the payment history with the bank statement, check whether another admin with the card made it, and check it is not for a different Meta product such as ads.
WhatsApp's Help Center also describes Alerts Center, a single place inside the WhatsApp Business app for important business updates, Meta Verified notifications among them. Meta says it is being rolled out gradually and may not be available to the business yet. Where it is, open the Tools tab and tap the bell icon; a badge on the bell shows new, unread alerts. Each alert comes with next steps, and Meta's own examples include a payment problem and an expiring Meta Verified subscription. At launch, the Help Center lists these kinds of alert:
- Meta Verified
- Subscription status, payment failures and verification issues.
- Ads that click to WhatsApp
- Rejections, payment issues, spending limits and campaign status updates.
- AI Tools
- Knowledge review and auto-saved content. The Help Center page lists the label without explaining it further.
- Orders
- Pending orders that need attention.
Meta adds that some alerts may not be available yet, and that Alerts Center does not include promotions, upsells or educational recommendations. Tapping an alert shows its details and the recommended action. Viewing an alert marks it as read, swiping it and tapping Delete removes it, and a bulk option clears all read alerts at once. On data, the Help Center says Alerts Center does not change how the business's data is handled or access the content of end-to-end encrypted messages, and that its notifications come from the business's activity in the app.

Changing plan, and adding Facebook or Instagram
A business with an active Meta Verified subscription can move to another plan and add its Facebook and Instagram accounts, WhatsApp's Help Center says. The payment changes to the new plan's price, while the verified badge and the accounts already subscribed stay as they are. Meta says the feature is rolling out slowly and may not be available in every region or to every business.
- Before you change
- The subscription must be active and hold eligible WhatsApp business assets, and any Facebook or Instagram profile added must meet its own eligibility rules. If it was bought through the Apple App Store or Google Play, only the owner of that Apple or Google account can change the plan.
- Moving to a higher-priced plan
- Usually takes effect within 24 hours, with no extra review, and the new plan's benefits follow.
- Moving to a lower-priced plan
- Takes effect at the start of the next billing cycle, with no extra review, and the higher plan's benefits continue until then. After one move down, further changes wait for the next billing cycle.
- Where to do it
- On a mobile device only, not a desktop computer: Tools, then Meta Verified, then Manage Subscriptions, then Explore other plans, swipe to compare, then Upgrade and Continue.
If a change will not go through, the Help Center's checklist is: the subscription is active and monthly, no change is already pending, the plan has not already moved down this billing cycle, the payment method has not failed or been declined, and the change is being made on a mobile device by the owner of the Apple or Google account.
Facebook and Instagram profiles can be added before paying, from the Payments screen with Edit Profile Selection, or after subscribing, under Manage Subscriptions, then Show you're verified everywhere, then Add profile, where the price changes are shown before Continue. This newer Help Center page is separate from linking accounts to WhatsApp, which the older page above says may cancel the subscription; where Show you're verified everywhere has rolled out, adding profiles there is the route it describes. Adding or removing a profile can change the amount and the billing date:
- Bought through Apple
- The full amount for all the assets is charged, Apple refunds what was paid on the last billing date, and the billing date moves to the day the asset was added.
- Bought through Google
- Only the added asset is charged for the rest of the current billing cycle, then the normal amount for all assets from the next billing date.

The verified web page, and support
A verified business can create a web page on WhatsApp under Tools, then Subscriptions, then Meta Verified or Meta One, then Web Page. The Help Center says it shows the business name, picture, hours, address, website and catalog, can be found by search engines, and is managed by editing the business profile. Its address is the business's WhatsApp username: 5 to 30 characters, using letters, numbers, full stops and underscores, and only one per business. The ordinary short link keeps working alongside it.
Support is under Tools, then Meta Verified, then Enhanced Support, with separate routes for WhatsApp features, the subscription itself and anything else. Every plan includes it, and higher plans are answered first. After cancelling, support ends with the billing period and any open cases are closed.

Questions
Why can't we see Meta Verified in our WhatsApp Business app?
WhatsApp's Help Center says that if Meta Verified is not under Settings or Business Tools, it is not available to the business yet. It is also limited to accounts that have been on the app for some time, have sent a message recently and have a profile name and picture.
Meta Verified says it can't verify our business. What is wrong?
Most often the business name does not match the WhatsApp profile name. Tap Update profile name, then Update name and Submit; Meta reviews it in about 48 hours. A newly registered business should try again after four weeks.
Can we change our business address after getting Meta Verified?
Not without losing the verified status. WhatsApp's Help Center says the category, address, email and website are locked once you subscribe.
Does Meta Verified carry over if we change our WhatsApp number?
No. Changing the phone number cancels the subscription, and you subscribe again on the new number. Moving the same number to a new phone does not affect it.
Does paying for Meta Verified guarantee a verified badge?
No. WhatsApp's Help Center says that after subscribing, a business is verified automatically, asked for documents, or subscribes without a verification option. It keeps the plan's other benefits in each case.
Can Meta remove our verified badge on WhatsApp?
Yes. The Help Center says the badge is not permanent: Meta may ask for more checks, such as an identity document and a selfie, and can remove it if they are not completed. The rest of the subscription is not affected.
How is Meta Verified paid for on the WhatsApp Business app?
Through the payment methods in your Apple App Store or Google Play account. WhatsApp's Help Center says it is charged monthly and renews automatically on the same date each month until cancelled.
Does Meta Verified give our business a web page?
Yes, once the business is verified. WhatsApp's Help Center says the page shows the profile and catalog, can be found by search engines, and uses the business's WhatsApp username as its address.
We were charged twice for Meta Verified this month. Why?
If one of the charges shows as Pending, WhatsApp's Help Center says it is probably an authorization hold from your bank rather than a second payment.
Where will the WhatsApp Business app tell us if a Meta Verified payment fails?
In Alerts Center, where it has rolled out. WhatsApp's Help Center says its Meta Verified alerts cover subscription status, payment failures and verification issues, and it opens from the bell icon on the Tools tab. Meta says Alerts Center is being rolled out gradually and may not be available to every business yet.
Why does Meta Verified ask us to log in to Facebook or Instagram?
WhatsApp's Help Center says the WhatsApp Business account is probably linked to a Meta business portfolio controlled by another account. The account that subscribes must have Full control admin permission there, so tap Use a different Facebook account or Use a different Instagram account and sign in as that admin.
How long does it take to change our Meta Verified plan?
A move to a higher-priced plan usually takes effect within 24 hours. A move to a lower-priced plan starts at the next billing cycle, and the higher plan's benefits continue until then. Changes are made on a mobile device, not a desktop computer.
Does Meta Verified protect us from accounts pretending to be our business?
Yes. WhatsApp's Help Center says WhatsApp monitors other accounts for anyone pretending to be the business and removes an account it decides is impersonating it. After cancelling, these protections last until the end of the current billing cycle.
Who is BitByteCore?

Can we get a refund on Meta Verified?
Only if verification was not completed or Meta could not verify the business. The Help Center says there is no refund after cancelling a verified subscription, and no partial refund.
